Satio, 2023
An exhibition featuring photographer Kimberly Ihre, curated in collaboration with HUD SPACE.
Satio, Latin for (time for) sowing, is a project which takes inspiration from the changes that occur in the different seasons of the year, on both visual and emotional levels. The seasons have the ability to progress with a sense of repetition, a paradoxical déjà vu that flirts with the passing of time.
With a dualistic perspective on the season's changing yet cyclical nature, Kimberly Ihre explores the tension between the factual and fabricated in her works. Elements in the photographs are either missing or added, objects take shape from one another or are left in a foreign environment. Through symbolism as the foundation of the exhibition, Kimberly aims to visualize the feeling of time that has passed, of something lost, but also something gained as the season transitions into the next phase.
Kimberly Ihre (b. 1991) is an artist based in Stockholm who mainly works with film photography. In her work, which she often prints and reworks through collages, she raises questions of identity, memories, and feelings. She often works with symbolism as a method to formulate and communicate feelings. She is interested in creating a tension between documentary photography and constructed pieces, where the photographs together create a series or a composition that in itself creates a cohesive piece.
